A Textile Room – Ariane Toussaint
Opening during Hoogtij 8 march 19.00-23.00
Extra Open weekend 9-10 March 13-18h.
Ariane Toussaint works with installation, textiles and books to explore personal and social histories of domesticity, womanhood and craft. Her research focuses on spaces of intimacy and care, and narratives that articulate touch and language. Her recent works reflect on the process of textile-making and its analogies with learning processes. Considering the transmission of domestic labour through physical gestures, in particular the acquisition of tactile and textile skills often imposed on women, the artist appropriates patchwork techniques and re-contextualises images found in old sewing books through colourful compositions.
