Description

Words That Matter: RISO Protest posters with Saber Javanmard
During the workshop, we will explore and harness the power of words. We will use words as our primary artistic components to create strong handmade posters, with the theme of ‘activism and community within art’ in mind. This workshop is designed for typography, lettering, and calligraphy enthusiasts. We will consciously exclude any images in our posters, focusing solely on letters to craft strong and direct messages. We will use RISO printing in combination with calligraphic tools and ink for our final posters.
Saber Javanmard (1985, Urmia, West Azerbaijan, Iran) is a multidisciplinary artist and designer from The Hague. He pushes the boundaries of graphic design, typography, and painting by focusing on letters as primary artistic components. By experimenting with the various aspects of typography in Latin, Farsi, and Arabic, he aims to create a new visual language that builds a bridge between East and West.
